Your Guide to Lab-Grown Diamonds

Understanding diamonds doesn't have to be complicated. We'll walk you through everything you need to know to make a confident decision.

Lab-Grown vs. Mined Diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They share the exact same chemical composition (pure carbon), crystal structure, and physical properties as mined diamonds.

The difference? Lab diamonds are created in controlled environments using advanced technology that replicates the conditions under which diamonds naturally form in the Earth's mantle.

Two methods are used:

  • HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) — Mimics natural diamond formation
  • CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) — Grows diamonds layer by layer from a carbon-rich gas

Both methods produce diamonds that are optically, chemically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. Even expert gemologists cannot distinguish between them without specialized equipment.

Why Choose Lab-Grown?

50-70% Less

Same quality for a fraction of the price

100% Ethical

No mining, no conflict, no environmental damage

Identical Quality

Same fire, brilliance, and durability

IGI Certified

Independently verified quality and authenticity

Understanding the 4Cs

The 4Cs — Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat — are the universal standard for evaluating diamond quality. Here's what each means for you.

Cut

Most Important

Cut determines how well a diamond reflects light. A well-cut diamond will have exceptional brilliance, fire, and scintillation. We only offer Excellent and Ideal cut grades.

💡 We recommend Excellent or Ideal cut for maximum sparkle.

Color

D-J Range

Diamond color is graded from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow). The less color, the higher the grade. Most people can't detect color differences within 2-3 grades.

D-F (Colorless)G-J (Near Colorless)K-M (Faint)N-Z (Light)

💡 G-H offers excellent value — colorless to the naked eye.

Clarity

VS2 and Up

Clarity measures the presence of inclusions (internal) and blemishes (external). Most inclusions are microscopic and invisible without magnification.

FL/IF (Flawless)VVS1-VVS2VS1-VS2SI1-SI2I1-I3

💡 VS2 or SI1 are "eye-clean" and offer great value.

Carat

Size & Weight

Carat refers to the diamond's weight, not size. Larger diamonds are rarer and more valuable. Consider the "magic sizes" just under popular weights for better value.

💡 A 0.9ct looks similar to 1ct but costs significantly less.

Not Sure About Ring Size?

Getting the right size is crucial. Here are a few tips: Measure an existing ring that fits the correct finger, measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, or simply ask us for a free ring sizer.
